Our Team

Commonwealth Staffing was founded to provide outsourced recruiting and staffing services to businesses throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Our business organically evolved to meet the staffing and recruiting needs of clients from our sister company, Commonwealth Payroll. While we continue to provide staffing and recruiting services for those clients, we have expanded to serve other businesses throughout the region as well.

Jon Bass

FOUNDER
 

A lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Jon graduated with Accounting and Finance degrees from Randolph-Macon college before starting his career in public accounting. After his tenure in public accounting, Jon worked for Microsoft and then as the CFO of several different Virginia based technology companies. In 2016, Jon founded Commonwealth Payroll, a full-service cloud-based payroll solution offering automated Human Capital Management software, timekeeping and reporting, and a variety of other employment solutions.

During his career, Jon has built and managed teams, grown businesses from 5 to 100+ employees, and successfully lead several companies to record breaking growth and profitability. Jon leverages his wealth of knowledge regarding team building, leadership and strategy, and salary expectations for the local market to provide our clients with valuable insights and exceptional candidate placements.

In his spare time, Jon enjoys spending time with his wife, three kids, and their labradoodle, Cubby. He is an avid fisherman, a college basketball enthusiast, and a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan.
